Green Deal

The Green Deal is the government’s £14 billion initiative to super-insulate 14 million homes and so reduce energy bills, cut fuel poverty, improve energy security and create 65,000 jobs. At its heart is a new kind of ‘pay-as-you-save’ loan.

Will people take up the Green Deal?

The Green Deal could transform energy use in UK homes but the way it is funded is unfamiliar. The Green Deal is voluntary. So will householders, tenants and landlords take it up?

Leaven & PEP facilitate good Green Deal decisions

The Green Deal will be most effective on a community scale. But how do communities take large, complex decisions? Experience shows the availability of trusted advice from an independent 3rd party is vital.

Leaven is partnering with Priority Estates Project (PEP), the national leader in community engagement, to provide independent advice and training on the Green Deal.

How do we help?

  • Landlords We impartially facilitate discussion between you and your tenants. Can the Green Deal make homes warmer and more economical for the benefit of all?
  • Tenants We provide independent advice to support you as you decide whether the Green Deal is for you and to find the best deal for your community, to minimise bills and disruption.
  • Energy companies Our contacts in areas of hard-to-insulate homes may improve communications for everyone’s benefit, reducing their community’s energy bills and helping you fulfil the Energy Company Obligation.
  • Local Authorities In an era of budget constraints we provide extra expert capacity to help you assess the opportunities of the Green Deal.
  • Green Deal Providers We help you engage with communities and fine-tune your Green Deal. And we help householders & landlords evaluate its benefits.

Anything else?

We can quickly organise:

  • Conferences Bringing interested parties together stimulates interest in the Green Deal and facilitates networking.
  • Training Seminars, webinars and informal learning parties provide essential support for planning and decision-making. Subjects include Green Deal intro, dealing with disruption, minimising energy bills, and climate change.
  • Research Monitoring is crucial to the success of the Green Deal. We have the contacts and the expertise.
  • Match-makingWe have a huge database of contacts. Without compromising our independence or the Data Protection Act we can introduce communities and Green Deal Providers for mutual benefit.

Independent not neutral

Leaven and PEP are passionately committed to creating sustainable communities and tackling exclusion. We do not benefit directly from the Green Deal but recognise its potential to benefit communities.
